Atmospheric correction for Ocean Colour in presence of sun-glint, applied to MERIS
Objective
- Improving the global coverage of remote sensing sensors which are affected by sun-glint
Algorithm
- Originally designed for retrieving ocean colour products on the sun-glint
- Robust to the effect of thin clouds and adjacency effects
- Retrieves marine reflectances at 443, 490 and 560 nm, and the chlorophyll-a concentration
Application to MERIS - Observing sequences of 3 days composites
Since ocean products are retrieved on the sun glint, 3 days is a sufficient
period for making composites with a good global coverage.Dynamic phenomena can be monitored via a sequence of 3 days composites, as illustrated on this file (pdf, 9Mb).
