EXPER/PF
EX position
of the Population of the Euro-Region to atmospheric pollutants:
the case of Fine Particles
Goals
- To develop and promote a cross-border (North of France-Flanders) database on atmospheric Particulate Matter, usable by the professionals involved in :
- Public Health
- Environment
- Regional Planning
- Research in Air Quality Modelling.
- To provide information for estimating those ambient PM levels by relating remotely measured, vertically integrated aerosol optical data derived from Earth Observation to mass measurements made by ground based monitoring networks

Results
Air quality monitoring networks from North of France (AREMA , Opal'Air) and from Flanders (VMM) yields half hourly pollutants concentration measurements for the period 1996-2004. Main pollutants are PM10 and PM2.5.
Ground based monitoring networks
Several gaseous pollutants are also included but on an irregular basis and for demonstration purposes only.
